Starting September 19th we will be starting our 6 week Intro to Yoga Series at tacOMa yoga!

Join Rachel as she takes you through this series and guest teacher Shawnda on Wednesday evenings at 7:30-8:45 pm.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Our aim is to create a safe and inviting space for you to learn and grow so that when you complete the 6 week course, you'll have the tools and knowledge you need to step confidently onto your yoga mat.

ALCHEMY OF LOVE WORKSHOP

In this open heart workshop we will explore the various postures and ways to increase flexibility mentally and physically. “Backbends” are postures that require you to receive love from the front and back of your body. All heart openers are immense portals that can at times be a lot to take on emotionally. Have you ever cried in Camel? Yeah, us too!! Many of these asanas ignite energetic shifts within our body that can cause panic or fear, however, within these 190 minutes we will work through specific stretches and exercises that are designed to remove fear from the practice and encourage you to lead with love. 

WHAT TO EXPECT
Two hours of epic play time that will leave you feeling lovey dovey with a side of extra mush. There will be a mini prep flow for the assortment of asanas that we will explore, followed by partner assists/asana breakdown and finally a juicy restorative sequence to leave you blissed. Most of the time we are denied access to parts of our body (especially the heart space) because on our own we have yet to feel the sensation that triggers our bodies memory. Our hearts are the key to everything, they want to be open, and feel every sensation. Our bodies not only have the ability but also the intelligence to do more than we believe they can. With the help of others we can illuminate the parts of our body that are ready to open up. The way inward doesn’t have to be alone. 

Come with an open mind, water and a yoga mat.
*highly recommend not eating anything heavy prior to class. These asanas should be practiced with a fairly empty stomach.

THE YOGA + AYURVEDA SERIES

In a series of seasonal workshops with Sona Desai Buchanan, delve into the ancient practice of Ayurveda, the holistic healing science for the body – sister to Yoga’s healing science for the mind. Meaning science (veda) of life (ayur) Ayurveda takes a personalized, preventative approach to optimal health and longevity in harmony with nature’s pulse. 

During each workshop, discover how to add seasonal rhythm to your yogasana, pranayama and meditation practices. Learn how to follow the flow of nature and weave simple yet effective daily rituals and practices throughout the year to live a healthier, fuller life. Understand better your unique makeup as well as the elemental shifts in the seasons and the imbalances they may bring, smoothing your transition from season to season.

AUTUMN: GRACEFUL GROUNDING
As autumn approaches it brings with it not only cooler temperatures, but also a dry, lightness and a quickened energy of movement and change.  We are affected by these same elements and shifting sensations. At our best, we will move through the world with grace, creativity and adaptability. Without adequate grounding, we may encounter imbalances such as anxiety, insomnia, difficult elimination and lower back pain. In Ayurveda all of these are associated with autumn’s dominant vata dosha. 

WHAT TO EXPECT
The first half of the workshop is all about discovery and discussion!  We will explore the nuts and bolts of Ayurveda, dive into the doshas (bio-energies) and dinacharya (daily routine).  The second half is about experiencing the wisdom of Ayurveda in your being.  A grounding flow practice will ease into a blend of longer holds and deep relaxation, helping to alleviate vata-specific imbalances while encouraging you to slow down and nourish yourself.  Gentle assists and aromatherapy will be incorporated at key points during the session.  Finally, we will review take-home tools so that you can stay steady and radiant in the face of change. All levels welcome!

Please come with your questions and curiosities, a journal, socks and layers, water and yoga mat.

Mom + little series


MOM + LITTLE 5 WEEK SERIES

Did you recently have a baby? Are you looking for self nourishment? This Mom and Little series with give you the opportunity to bond with your baby and connect with other moms, all while taking care of YOU! Babies from newborn to crawlers are welcome. 

WHAT TO EXPECT
In this series, we will move through a light flow focusing on strengthening core and pelvic floor, as well as, opening shoulders and giving love to the hips. Babies will enjoy a gentle baby massage and observe Moms practice yoga. You have the option to include your little one in any poses you feel fit. We understand babies needs are important so breastfeeding, bottle feeding diaper changes, coos and cries are all embraced. 

WHAT TO BRING
Please bring swaddle or blanket to lay baby down, and anything baby might need. Moms, wear comfortable clothes, bring water, yoga mat and anything else you and little need to be comfortable.

YIN + CHAKRA IMMERSION

YIN + CHAKRA IMMERSION

In both ancient cultures and within in yoga philosophy it is said that everything, including us, is energy. One of the systems of energy that runs through us is referred to as the Chakras. The intention of this immersion is to explore and de-mystify your energetic anatomy and uncover how the chakras appear within your life, body, and practice. It is from our personal discovery and experiences that we can gain a deeper understanding of how the Chakras effect our lives and begin to view from a different lens. 

Join Shawnda Noone for an experiential workshop through the Chakra system. Through lecture and movement, we will explore the 7 Major Chakra Systems and begin to de-mystify how these centers of the body hold and process our experiences. Combined with the slow and meditative practice of Yin Yoga, we have the opportunity to gather and experience information through the embodiment of a physical practice.  

WHAT TO EXPECT
Each segment will begin with a lecture, move into a guided meditation, and follow with a yummy yin practice. 

You will receive an overview of the entire chakra system. We will look at each chakra as tools for self-inquiry, so you may continue to explore how they impact your own life, and more.

SCHEDULE:
•Part One – Overview of the Chakra System 12 – 12:30pm
•Part Two – Foundations; lower three Chakras  12:30 - 2:30pm
•Break 2:30 – 3pm
•Part Three – Bridge to Spirit; upper four Chakras 3 – 5:30pm

WHAT TO BRING
Please come with an open mind and your curiosities. A journal is encouraged for note taking and writing prompts. You may also want to dress in layers, bring a water bottle, and snacks for your break (as this is a full day immersion).
