THE YOGA + AYURVEDA SERIES

THE YOGA + AYURVEDA SERIES
SATURDAY FEB 23RD @ 12-3:30 PM
WITH SONA DESAI BUCHANAN

In a series of seasonal workshops, we will delve into the ancient practice of Ayurveda, the holistic healing science for the body – partner to Yoga’s healing science for the mind. Ayurveda, meaning science (veda) of life (ayur), takes a personalized and preventative approach to optimal health and longevity in harmony with nature’s pulse.

During each workshop, discover how to add seasonal rhythm to your yogasana, pranayama and meditation practices, plus key dietary and lifestyle changes, appropriate herbs to use and recipes that can be used to bring about optimal health. Learn how to go with the flow of nature and weave simple yet effective daily rituals throughout the year to live a more harmonious life. Understanding your unique makeup as well as the elemental shifts in the seasons and the imbalances they may bring will smooth your transition from season to season.

LATE WINTER + SPRING
As Winter melts into Spring, we continue to face cold, damp temperatures along with a desire to come out of winter hibernation. Ayurveda can provide tools to counteract the feelings of heaviness, sluggishness and congestion that come from this season’s dominant dosha, kapha. Spring is a time of regeneration and growth! Just as we witness a "fresh start" in nature, it is essential that we give ourselves this same chance. We will focus on practices that stimulate, cleanse, lighten, and clear the slate because Spring is about new beginnings, setting roots that sustain us through Summer and Fall.

WHAT TO EXPECT
The workshop will kick off with a refreshing yoga and meditation session that is aligned to the Spring season. This portion, to include kriyas, inversion and yoga nidra, is all about experiencing the seasonal wisdom of Ayurveda in your being.

Post-practice, we will dive into discussion and discovery, exploring the nuts and bolts of Ayurveda, the doshas (bio-energies) and dinacharya (daily routine) for the Spring. All levels welcome!

WHAT TO BRING
Please come with your questions and curiosities, a journal, socks and layers, water and yoga mat.

YOGA STABILITY WEEKEND IMMERSION

YOGA STABILITY WEEKEND IMMERSION
WITH MEREDITH CAMERON
SAT. APRIL 27TH – 28TH

Join Meredith Cameron for a weekend long immersion that will give you tools to understand your own personal set of conditions in each pose. Bone structure, Chinese Medicine, Daoism concepts and personal habits will be a part of the entire weekend.
These workshops can be purchased as a package or individually. Find out more below!

UPPER BODY RELEASE
SATURDAY 4/27 @ 12:30-3pm
Our upper bodies are always doing all of the work. Sometimes too much and then we end up having aches and pains for might seem like no reason at all.

No wonder we love to use our upper bodies. In Taoism, our upper bodies are our potential and capacity. But how can we, instead use the leverage of our feet and legs, to allow our potential and capacity (the upper body) to be full of FREEDOM?

Come learn and play, as we dive into tools to help to help us rewire the energy usage throughout our body just by using our legs and feet.

We will also connect the dots, learning which parts of the feet are connected to what on our bodies (through Taoism and Chinese medicine) and begin to allow any aches and pains the opportunity to rest.
Our upper body holds our organs and the essence of this practice is about letting our organs work in a nice, spacious home

GET OUT OF YOUR WAY
SATURDAY 4/27 @ 4-6:30pm
There's so much to do once you are in a pose. We will learn to get off of ourselves and get over ourselves. So often we sit in our joints and energy and information becomes stagnant. We then begin to use compensatory skills. In this workshop, we will instead, learn how to provide ourselves with proper insight and potential, enhance efficiency of our bodies, and bring our second nature forward (insight, intelligence, skill and technique).

A good yoga pose. A good relationship. It all has the same demand.

PUZZEL PIECES
SUNDAY 4/28 @ 12:30-3pm
How well aligned are we to our lives? Physically speaking, we are designed to "fit".

Come explore the various "fits" of our bodies and what they mean. As we learn how to fit ourselves, our lives begin to make more sense also.

We move through fits that make our hips more available, that awaken and stimulate the glands, and we will speak of the endocrine system and how their relationship with the chakra system.
"Fits" also allow us to plug in and expend our energy efficiently. So much comes out of a simple fit, yet the challenge it truly plugging into ourselves. That's when currency, oxygen, blood and information begin to flow. And it feels SO good.
